The Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 R WR is an ultra-fast wide lens that is great for shooting in low light. It’s sharp, has no disstortion, no lateral color fringes, and no light falloff. I recommend buying the Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 R WR.
Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 R WR Features
The Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 R WR is all electronic. You can manually adjust it if you want, but it’s really meant to be used as an autofocus lens. If you want to manually focus, simply move the focus ring forward.
The autofocus is super quick and very accurate – even at f/1.4. The Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 R WR uses a closed-loop system, which greatly reduces any mechanical errors.
Disclaimer: the Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 R WR only works on Fuji X-mount cameras! If you don’t have one or aren’t going to buy one, go look at another lens.
The Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 R WR is sealed and comes with a rubber gasket to protect against dust and splashes.
Image Quality
Good luck getting anything out of focus with this lens. You’ll have to actively try to to shoot out of focus.
Photos come out very sharp, and get mildly sharper the more you narrow the aperture. If you’re going to shoot landscape shots, I recommend using a slightly more narrow aperture than you normally would.
No matter what aperture you’re using, you’re going to see very little, if any, distortion in your photos. You’ll have to actively look for it by zooming in with Photoshop. Even then, you’ll be questioning whether it’s distortion or a tiny smudge on your monitor.
Pros
- Extremely sharp
- Short minimum focus
- Fast autofocus
- Resistant to dust and scratches
Cons
- A bit pricey
