The Fujinon XF 23mm F2 R WR is a weather-sealed, compact f/2 prime lens for Fujinon’s mirrorless camera system. It performs very well and will deliver sharp, consistent images. It’s a bargain at $449.
Fujinon XF 23mm F2 R WR Features
The Fujinon XF 23mm F2 R WR measures 2.4″ x 2.0″ (HD), and weighs a paltry 6.4oz. It’s also built to support 43mm filters.
Made to be affordable, the Fujinon XF 23mm F2 R WR comes without image stabilization. However, you do have your choice of picking this lens up in either black or silver.
The barrel is made of metal, while the hood is plastic. It attaches and detaches very easily. If you primarily work in the field, you’ll love this.
APS-C Image Sensor Size
The Fujinon XF 23mm F2 R WR uses the APS-C image sensor size. This is great because you’ll capture a field of view that’s typical for a 35mm lens, despite this lens only being 23mm. It’s ideal for candid shots, group portraits, and landscapes.
The physical aperture control ring is adjustable from f/2 through f/16, with 1/3 stop increments. Like most of Fujinon XF lenses, the manual focus leaves a bit to be desired. However, the auto-focus is fantastic.
The focus ring is nice to use, but doesn’t provide any tactile feedback. You’ll have to turn it a lot if you’re making large adjustments. Not a huge deal, but takes a bit of time to get used to.
I really like the edge to edge sharpness on the Fujinon XF 23mm F2 R WR. Also, no matter the f-stop, you’ll be taking sharp, quality photos.
There isn’t much barrel distortion, even when you’re out in the field. If you get dimness in the corners, just adjust up or down a stop and problem solved.
- Great value
- Awesome edge to edge sharpness
- Weather resistant
- No image stabilization
- Not great for manual focus
