Fujinon XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS Features
The Fujinon XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS with a 55-200mm focal length (83-300mm equivalent) is designed for all Fujifilm X series mirrorless cameras. It features a quick F3.5-4.8 max. aperture ring on the lens and supports 62mm threaded filters.
Want to capture the full detail of the colorful Emerald Swallowtail Butterfly? You’ll need to stay far away enough not to disturb it. The Fuji Optical Image Stabilization is your solution, allowing handheld shots even at full zoom.
Though the autofocus system, with its’ two linear motors, is considered to be quite fast, it is not your best choice for fast-action shots. There is also some struggle (hunting) with close to distant focus shifts, but that may be more of an issue with the camera than the lens.
Image Quality
Under normal shooting, you’ll experience extremely little distortion, completely invisible light falloff, and very little blue/yellow fringing found only in the extreme corners. The Fujinon XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS is an impressively sharp lens. Maybe it’s not as sharp when wide open at the long end, but it’s certainly not weak in any setting.
The use of Hi EBC coating prevents reflections, flare, and ghosting. Vignetting is extremely rare, even when you’ve stacked four filters. And if there happens to be a minimal amount, it’s corrected automatically through the software. You’ll almost never see it.
Bokeh results are mixed, ranging from the busy and distracting look of only slightly out of focus regions to true dreamy, colorful rings. Overall, the bokeh qualities are, at least, very pleasant.
